Hey everyone! I just did a complete Windows update because I wanted to restart, but after that the game became really unstable. Both CPU and GPU usage hovered around 10 and 3 respectively. Before the update, I usually achieved over 150 fps, now it swings wildly—averaging about 13 but spiking up to 194. I've tried all the tips online: using DDU for a full driver reset, adjusting the advanced_cfg file, changing clock speeds, checking game files, etc. I even reinstalled Windows again. My setup has two drives and Modern Warfare on an SSD. The only time FPS improves is when I set the game to low priority in Task Manager; it drops to around 3 fps when set high. I also ran as admin and got the same result. My specs are: Ryzen 5700x, RTX 3080, GTX 3050, 3200mhz, 850W PSU, 2TB WD Black NVMe SSD, 2TB HDD. If anyone has another idea would be really helpful. Also, Apex, Cold War, and other titles run smoothly, just this one seems different. Updated September 17, 2022 by Trazer.
It seems the environment or configuration might have been altered without your notice. If no components were modified and everything appears normal, the problem likely lies in the software—possibly a driver update or reinstallation issue. Checking Windows settings and Nvidia configurations could help identify the missing drivers, especially for the GPU.
I've completed these steps already, but I'll give it another shot. I keep up with the newest driver updates, so if it's not the latest version, it should be the most recent one I've tested after the DDU process. I'm pretty sure the issue is related to software, though I haven't managed to locate anything matching this exact problem. I've also tried stopping all background processes and closing everything possible.
I also overlooked mentioning that the FPS remains acceptable on the screen while you pick between warzone, multiplayer, or whatever placeholder option is in use. Once I select Warzone or Multiplayer, the performance drops significantly. Unclear if this clarifies anything, but it seems to highlight a software issue.
