consider upgrading to a newer CPU or computer. it’s not worthwhile for such an outdated machine, unless you have no budget. a reasonably affordable Ryzen desktop would cost under $300.

I can't afford it because I'm planning a full upgrade. My PC is a prebuilt HP with DDR3, and upgrading the CPU isn't necessary since I can simply move it to a third generation model. While I get a new PC, I'm looking for games to pass the time.

I don't understand why you can't install that Java program. Also, according to the top expert, your only option is flash games, which I think require Java—I might be mistaken.

It seems the system can't complete the installation because Java isn't functioning properly, even after several attempts to reinstall it.

Have you attempted removing this questionable Java? Or did you simply install it during setup? If yes, remove it, then reinstall the newest version and inform us.

I understand the situation, Java is available, but the i5 2400 isn't compatible with Windows 10, which means no graphics drivers are installed. This makes it difficult to use. I'm curious if there are alternatives besides flash games that might work.

perhaps design your own games.
you can create bash scripts in notepad and execute them via the command line for text-based adventures.
