Hi! Your dad's MSI PC with the MB-b9181 is a custom-built system, and I understand it's designed specifically for these setups. I'm looking for details about the backside M.2 slot. If anyone has any information, please share it! Thanks ahead of time!

Several online searches for MSI 9181 point to it being a H310 chipset motherboard. The H310 features six PCIe 2.0 lanes; if the M.2 slot connects to the chipset, it likely receives four PCIe 2.0 lanes, limiting speeds to about 2 GB/s. If CPU connections provide lanes, they may be PCIe 3.0, offering roughly 3.9 GB/s. It should also accommodate SATA M.2 drives.

You might also consider using an NVMe storage with a PCIe-to-NVMe adapter, especially if the system lacks a compatible slot.

Also verify if it uses the B key or M key slot (top two on the image)
