Even if you're unsure about the reason behind running Wordpress locally, I support the Docker approach. Using the Bitnami version is recommended—it handles all dependencies automatically and simplifies setup. Follow these steps: install Docker and Docker-compose on your Mac via the provided link. Then run the commands in the terminal to create a docker-compose.yml file and start the service. Open your browser at http://localhost to access it. This method ensures everything is configured correctly without manual installation. Updated February 20, 2022 by OldTweaker

I’m curious about the need for a local WordPress installation, especially on a Mac. Why would that setup be necessary despite other options? After setting up WordPress locally, what plans do you have for using it?

Well so first,I have a Mac and I need Wordpress. Second I don't want to pay for hosting and free hosting in my experience is a piece of garbage if you have good free hosting options tell me but the one I tried had like 10mb limit of files which is ridiculous,I mean I can run a local server for free and have better limits. And thirdly I just need it because we have Wordpress for school(in uni we have a subject that includes Wordpress development) and we do it on local servers. So here you goSmile Anyway doesn't matter I got LocalWP and it's awesome! I am using that now for Wordpress

For a straightforward, automated WordPress setup, LocalWP is a great choice. I'm not sure about its compatibility across platforms.
