Seagate External HD 2tb indicates excess storage (112tb available)
The issue began while I was watching a movie. During the film, a clicking noise came from my external HD, but the movie continued playing normally. I removed it carefully just in case it worsened. When I reinserted it, it didn’t appear and the indicator stopped blinking. Initially, I assumed the problem was with the USB port, so I tested other ports, but that didn’t help. In Disk Management, it displayed as an Unknown Disk, not initialized, and instead of the expected size, it showed 112TB. I attempted to initialize it via Disk Manager, but it failed. I checked my Windows 8.1 PC (dual-core, 2GB RAM) and then my Windows 10 PC (Windows 10, i3 4th gen, 8GB RAM), both showing the same issue. I tried using DiskPart to format it, but it didn’t work. Several recovery and partitioning tools were used, but scanning took over an hour with no progress, and formatting/recovery utilities didn’t succeed. I can’t assign a drive letter either. The drive isn’t visible in Windows Explorer but appears in Device Manager. Despite trying all possible fixes online, nothing resolved the problem. Can you help me recover my files (1.4TB)? It’s not critical if I can’t access or restore them.
Checking the Crystaldisk status indicates it's okay. However, if it reports issues, the memory controller might be damaged—consider sending the HDD to a data recovery facility for important information.
