The membrane keyboard wouldn't respond to key presses until the keycaps were placed.

The Dell ones feature a protruding tube with a rubber dome inside the bottom section. Is that the membrane?

The Windows key is a special button found on many high-end keyboards. It helps users lock their computer, which can be useful for security. Some people might find it confusing or unnecessary, especially if they don’t need to lock their device often.

I've used the latest Mac keyboards that come with Macs, as well as laptop models from Dell Lattitude. It seems they share the same switch design. The Mac ones had chic-let keys, while the Dell versions used standard keys, though I recall the rubber domes were similar. I’m not sure why you didn’t get them, or maybe we had different types of domes. This is membrane technology.
