Get a simple keyblocker device. It’s a small piece you place under the key to prevent it from fully closing or triggering. You can buy one or make it yourself easily.

I don't agree with that. I've used many membrane keyboards, and the buttons function perfectly fine without keycaps. Just compressing the membrane works normally.
