When taking apart the card, you'll find only eight screws required to detach just the main heatsink. Begin by removing the x-clamp, then take off the two screws positioned in the middle of the card at the top and bottom, followed by the final two screws at the end of the card. Removing any additional screws on the back near the x-clamp or toward the display port bracket will cause the second heatsink to come loose. This step is only necessary if you intend to replace the thermal pads; otherwise, it's likely unnecessary since the vram temperatures were satisfactory.
