Recently, when I powered on my PC, the window logo appeared followed by a black screen with a moving mouse cursor. After about 30 seconds, I was able to open Windows. I'm using Windows 7 and all drivers are current. My system runs on an SSD for the Windows file. I've tried various online solutions, but they haven't helped.

Check your posts for any updates. It might be a service delay—what software are you currently using?

It's just my usual software setup. I recently fixed my Bitdefender Total Security 2015, but I'm not sure if that caused any issues.

Sorry about that, did you mean I put my disc in the PC to fix it? Apologies for the poor English.

The Windows Disc lets you access "Recovery Options," which during setup will let you perform a System Restore. I’ll do my best to ensure the English is accurate and clear.

I have a possible fix if the issue comes down to a slow startup service. 1) Identify the culprit service. When the screen goes black after the Windows logo and your cursor shows up, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Task Manager (use the last option). Navigate to the Services tab, sort by status—running, starting, stopped—and scroll until you locate the problematic service that seems to keep running indefinitely. Click it once to highlight it and note its name and description. If you recognize the service, you can stop it here; otherwise, let your PC handle the slow boot. 2) Reinstall the app associated with the service and restart. If the problem continues, remove the application. If it's a Windows service, try the next step. 3) Change the service to Manual mode. Only do this if you're certain of what it does! To adjust this, open the Start menu, search for "services," and open the app. Right-click the affected service, select Properties, then in the General tab, switch Automatic to Manual. Please note: I collected these steps from Windows 7 Home; I assume they remain consistent across versions.

It might be a service, but it could take some time to pinpoint the cause. Try these simple steps: Press the Windows button, type "regedit" and press Enter/Return to open the registry editor. Expand the section on the left as shown: HKEY_USERS -> .DEFAULT -> Control panel -> Colors. Do you notice various numbers or just zeros? Another idea is that your primary monitor isn't starting properly. On a black screen, press [Win]+[P] and switch to dual-monitor mode or set the primary to another display to check if the problem persists.
