Details: Intel i5-9400F CPU paired with AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics card, DDR4 32GB RAM, Corsair rm750e PSU, B365M PRO-VH motherboard, Kingston 1TB SSD. Recently swapped my GPU from MSI GeForce RTX 2060 to the newer AMD model. After setup, the system would freeze during game boot attempts (Elden Ring and League of Legends). Event logs show a kernel power event, prompting a PSU upgrade. Despite changing to a 500W unit, issues continue. I’m considering reinstalling the old GPU and returning the new one, but I want to explore alternative fixes first before restarting drivers. Tried updating BIOS and removing previous drivers, installing latest versions instead.
Consider leaving the PC unplugged for a night to check if performance improves. I've experienced similar issues after recent build changes that forced me out of the system. That's not something I can easily explain. Second, are you certain everything is properly connected and secured? You might want to adjust power settings in Windows, though that usually doesn't stop games from running. Finally, try testing the old GPU to ensure nothing was affected or damaged.
I've verified every power cable thoroughly, confirmed they're securely seated, and there doesn't appear to be any loose connections. I plan to disconnect the PC overnight and let you know if this resolves the issue.
Updated PC performance during game loading. No problems observed with the games tested. First step was checking for errors; found an "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" issue. Ran SFC /SCANNOW and resolved several issues. Then upgraded drivers from 24.7.1 to 24.8.1, which likely helped. Uncertain if either fix was the cause.
