Screen turns black and fails to boot (Intel HD driver problem)
Your Windows 10 seems to misidentify the CPU model and is updating the wrong driver, which has caused video issues. I recommend performing a safe boot and using DDU to uninstall the Intel driver before proceeding. Since you've faced similar problems with your 660 Ti, consider disabling Windows updates from the start and setting the system to not update drivers automatically. There isn't a built-in tool to completely block all driver updates, but you can use third-party utilities or registry tweaks to manage them more effectively.
I would begin by launching in Safe Mode with Networking, remove the driver, and then obtain the driver straight from Intel instead of using Windows Update.
Apologies for the confusion, I resolved the issue mostly as you outlined but using ddu to remove Intel drivers. That’s just a temporary solution since this keeps occurring every few months or so. Sometimes it shuts down during work, which is quite annoying, and it happens regardless of whether I stop the Windows update services.
