Here’s a revised version of your message:

So recently, my screen started tearing during gameplay of GOT. This has never happened before—it was always smooth. I’m using a Gigabyte GEFORCE RTX gv-3060 and have noticed another issue: the GPU temperature keeps fluctuating between 60 and 69°C, while it usually stays around 49-55°C. It only spikes occasionally to about 60°C.

I haven’t adjusted any settings, but I suspect the Nvidia app might have caused the problem. I was prompted to update both the Nvidia software and drivers, yet nothing changed.

Could anyone help? I’m wondering what might be wrong and how to restore normal performance.

Below are my system details:

Users should include their specifications directly in the thread's body, as these details may change over time. Considering this, I've incorporated your specs into the thread content.
For the PSU, what is its age? The RTX 3000 series were known for frequent high transient load spikes;
Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnRyyCsuHFQ
And it's recommended to overprovision your PSU's wattage (including a stable unit) to help with this problem.
Source a reliable, higher wattage unit (around 750W) from a friend or neighbor and check if the issue continues.
Another option is to run DDU in Safe Mode, disable all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia), and then manually install the latest driver from Nvidia's support site using an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
What BIOS version is your motherboard running?

Man, this is my old build again. I refreshed it about a year back. Probably time to check PCPARTPICKER, but the GPU and most parts are still the same. The only changes are in the look and the PSU. I switched to the Lian Li SP850, so power should be fine.

I’m not sure what BIOS version my Mobo has. I’d need to restart and look it up.

While waiting, I did some digging and found a lot of generic info. I adjusted the Vertical Sync setting in the Nvidia Control Panel from “use the 3d application setting” to just ON. That’s odd because I never changed it or kept it on except for that setting. It seems to have fixed the issue, though. It’s still a bit warmer than usual—maybe because of that intense heat wave.

I’ll keep the DDU in safe mode ready just in case things change. Thanks for all the help and the PSU details.

I think G-sync was disabled after updating the drivers, and the card is now showing higher FPS than the monitor can manage. Because it has to work harder to achieve those numbers, it uses more power and generates higher temperatures.

You made some adjustments, but now the issue is that playing Ghost feels sluggish and laggy. The tearing problem is gone, but the game runs very slowly and consistently behind. It’s really frustrating. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Why would Nvidia require you to update and download something that makes your performance even worse?

Hey everyone, I'm still facing problems. I installed an older Nvidia driver from December 2024 and it worked at first. But yesterday, while playing, the screen started tearing again. Those three to four lines that would pop through my screen whenever I turned a character or moved the view kept appearing. I didn't adjust any settings after installing the new driver, and I even tried using DD to completely remove all NVIDIA drivers before reinstalling in Safe mode. Still, everything isn't working properly. I've been playing the game for over a year without any issues before this started. Nvidia says I need to update the driver, but it breaks my game! After uninstalling and reinstalling, it's still not fixed. I'm really frustrated and can't figure out a solution.

If you performed a clean reinstall using DDU, it also cleared all your configurations. Also verify whether the issue isn't related to the display's settings and not just the driver.

Basic checks to verify: Ensure Gsync is active for both Fullscreen and Windowed (including Borderless) applications in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I also often manually force VSync via the NVIDIA driver for each game, since it performs better when Gsync is enabled rather than relying on the game itself. This might be due to performance differences, though I’m not sure.

I’ve noticed improved behavior in Vulkan applications when I set the DXGI Present Method to "Prefer Layered on DXGI Swapchain." This adjustment is highlighted because the application tends to reset to its default settings after each NVIDIA driver update.
