Hello, I’m using an AMD system with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an MSI Radeon rx 7900XT on Windows 11. It’s a relatively new setup, built myself for over four months, though I’m starting to feel some regret. Recently, my screen has been flickering or shifting randomly at unpredictable times, and the system sometimes freezes. At first, it seemed like a driver problem or hardware issue, but after reinstalling an older version of the adrenaline driver (from 23.12.1 to 23.11.1), the flickering occurred once during that update. I’m concerned about what else might be causing this. I’ve been saving for this machine for a long time and don’t want it to fail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's clear that revisiting the newest adrenaline software version didn't resolve the issues, as the flickers and hiccups returned more often.

Have you already attempted to remove the latest Windows updates?

The last change was made on December 27, 2023. The problem appeared today while I was using the PC. I discovered a corrupted file after running SFC /scannow, applied the latest BIOS update, and downgraded the GPU drivers. It seemed to resolve the issue temporarily. Since then, the flickering and hiccups stopped. This thread remains open in case it reappears (hopefully not).

I turned off my computer for a while, then turned it back on—it became worse.

Verify the driver settings. It seems there might be an issue with the display, possibly due to loose connections or a broken ribbon cable inside the monitor. Try connecting the monitor to another computer with the same resolution to see if the problem persists.

Switching to safe mode resolved the problem, and in the BIOS it appeared normal too.

It indicates the system works fine at 60Hz across those settings. Look for firmware updates for your display. For testing, run it on a different machine with identical resolution and frequency.

You seem to be experiencing some display issues with your monitor. Since you're using a 1080p screen, it's possible the settings or hardware are causing the flickering. Checking the Windows settings is good, but if the problem persists when changing refresh rates, consider testing other modes or contacting support for further assistance.
