New PC setup: Asus z590-E with Intel i5 11600K, RTX 3060, 12GB Corsair Vengeance Pro, 2x16GB 3200MHz, NVMe 4.0 M.2 SSD. First boot into a working Windows 11 install. Checked for updates and installed many. Restart pending. Still unsure if the update process finished successfully. No progress indicator after restarting. This has been ongoing for nearly 45 minutes. What should I do?

I’d attempt to restart it several times. It’s possible to mess up the Windows installation, but if you’re not concerned about losing anything, you might not have much to risk.

I just waited quietly for an hour without doing anything. It began showing the percentage but kept getting stuck at 21% and then reset. Now it’s moving up to 7%, and right now it’s over 30% again, restarting itself. I hope it won’t be a loop.

Everyone I read suggests simply let it sit, avoid touching the keys, and prevent it from sleeping. Any action could damage your Windows file and create a lot of trouble. It took about an hour, but staying still resolved the issue. Good luck!

You likely used Windows 11 version 22H1 before upgrading to 22H2.

I only used the creation tool on the official site, and after it worked, there were 10 billion updates ready. It took an entire hour, but we got it done.
