I aimed to replace the CPU in my PC with a 5GB model on the Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3 board. It has a 4x2 GB RAM, 2800 XPG, and a GTX 1060 3GB. The setup includes a 1TB SSD, two HDDs, and a 750W PSU. After swapping the CPU, the system booted normally but the screen stayed black, and neither the keyboard nor mouse lit up. I also tested another graphics card, but it didn’t work. My RAM modules failed to activate either. All connections seemed intact. When I reinstalled the old CPU, it didn’t function. I’ve tried various solutions over several days without success. I’ll share a photo with the secondary GPU if that helps.
I forgot to mention the old CPU was removed and it didn’t function. Take out the CMOS battery, let it sit for five minutes, then reinsert it and attempt again. :: Do you know if your system has a BIOS update for version 20 or higher? The F20 update includes support for Pinnacle Ridge (Ryzen 2000). Earlier updates won’t work with the 2000 series.
The motherboard appears to be in good condition with no visible damage or unusual odors. The system doesn't recognize any BIOS issues.
I determined the motherboard was faulty by observing recurring symptoms and testing components. Replacing it wasn’t entirely by chance. A comparable problem appeared with CPU red error lights, so I avoided replacing both at once.
