Mobo is PRIME a320m-k, using an old CPU—Athlon 200GE. I swapped it for a Ryzen 5 1600 and updated the BIOS to version 5409, which should work with the new processor. The PSU is 400W, which seems sufficient for the build. A monitor is connected directly to the GPU. Initially, everything felt normal but eventually I got a black screen with no USB ports functioning. The fans were running, CPU was getting hot, and the SSD was overheating too. Despite these issues, the PC seemed to operate at all. When I changed back to the old CPU, the problem persisted. I reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for about 30 minutes, but that didn’t help either. I short-circuited the CMOS and tried it again, but nothing resolved it. I checked every wire and connection, swapped RAM, used only one RAM stick, unplugged the GPU and connected it directly to the motherboard with the old CPU, and even booted without any RAM. Nothing seemed to fix it. I took my PC to a service center, where they found broken USB ports and other issues but didn’t ask why it wasn’t working. They just said simple diagnostics helped. What exactly was going wrong with my system?
