My child recently got Starmade and noticed a lot of screen tearing. I'm trying to find v-sync options but they don't appear in the settings menu or online. Anyone else who plays this game have suggestions?

I don't own the game, but is there a FPS cap feature? If you can't set up v-sync, it might be best to disable it. EDIT: Also, I believe you're one of the few on the forum with a child!

No, it doesn't necessarily mean adjusting through the Control Panel.

I'm not sure about that. I don't own the game, but is there a FPS cap feature? If it's not possible to set up v-sync, we should just stick with it. Good question. We'll check.

What graphics card are you running? If it's AMD, right-click the desktop and go to the Catalyst Control Center → Gaming → 3D App Settings → wait for a refresh and then apply. For NVIDIA, I don't know the details.

Oh no, I discovered it in the game settings. In the Settings menu > Advanced Settings. Thanks for your patience.
