Hello, I recently set up a brand new system and am struggling to understand what’s causing this problem. This isn’t an updated GPU from a previous version. The setup includes a 6750 XT with 12GB RAM; a Ryzen 5 5600; an AsRock Phantom Gaming 4 B550 Mobo; a G Skill Ripjaws DDR4 32GB (2x16GB) at 3200MHz; a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD; and a Corsair RM750 watt 80+ PSU. I’m running Windows 11, and my monitor is an AOC G2460. Whenever I launch a game in fullscreen, the screen flickers black during animations or movements. Even in windowed mode it works perfectly. The FPS is solid, temperatures are normal, and I’m really happy since I upgraded from a GTX 970. It only happens when playing games. I’ve already reinstalled drivers, but it still doesn’t resolve the issue. Could it be that my monitor can’t handle fullscreen? It’s similar to what happened when I tried connecting an AOC G2460 to an Xbox Series X for Elden Ring—my screen went completely black. I don’t want to buy a new monitor right now, but if this is the case, maybe I should just use it for Discord/YouTube and upgrade to a 1440p one for gaming! If your setup uses a DVI cable, detach it and test with the DisplayPort option. DVI connections work well but can sometimes become too tight. Also verify the monitor's settings directly on the device, not through Windows on the computer.
You're using an HDMI connection and it's properly linked to the GPU. I confirmed everything before turning the system on.
I checked the AOC listing you referenced and found the 24" DVI DP model with 144Hz freeSync. Display port seems to be the optimal choice for that setup, offering better security on both GPU and monitor sides. DVI provides a solid signal, but it tends to get damaged during installation and often suffers from poor connections. If you have an HDMI available—especially one compatible with your monitor—consider swapping it out. I don’t like HDMI anymore; it’s complicated by the constant updates and compatibility issues. With all the clutter from old Blu-ray, DVD, and Hi-Fi gear, I’ve got no interest in HDMI anymore. Thanks for the info!
I have the exact monitor I own—a 75Hz AOC g2406vq6 24-inch HDMI display. It’s been my go-to for years, and I haven’t switched to DisplayPort yet because the HDMI cable still functions well. I’m planning to change it now that I’ve got a new setup. I’ll check back later when I decide to buy a replacement cable.
