Hi everyone, I just finished setting up a new PC about two months ago. It was running smoothly—games played well and everything worked without problems. Now I noticed Windows 11 wasn’t updating properly. Errors kept popping up about damaged or missing files, and the OS felt unstable. To resolve this, I opted for a clean installation. I used my USB drive with Windows 10 (bought around six years prior) and erased all partitions to start fresh. Then I installed Windows 10. After that, I followed the usual steps to install the latest updates. Everything downloaded and installed without issues, and the system asked me to restart. When I did, it froze into VGA boot mode and refused to continue. To be clear, everything was functioning perfectly before I reinstalled Windows 10 and applied all the updates. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions! GPU: 9070XT NITRO + Motherboard: B850 AORUS ELITE

This problem clearly points to a hardware concern, and the OS behaving erratically on this new setup is atypical. A failure during VGA startup usually indicates the GPU couldn't initialize, which aligns with the instability you faced before. It seems the issue might stem from the motherboard, CPU, or RAM. You should check each component separately.

Adjust your GPU and RAM settings. If that fails, try using one stick in a second CPU slot. BIOS should protect Bois from updates, so if you notice changes, it’s likely hardware-related.

Are the graphics built into your CPU? Your motherboard appears to include a DP port. Would it work to take out your GPU and check for any signal output?

Hello, your GPU remains in the VGA boot even after removal—consider checking other boot methods. What alternatives could help diagnose the issue? Thanks.

Hello, your recent attempt didn’t yield the expected results. Are there alternative solutions or factors that might be causing the VGA BOOT THX issue on your PC?

I’ve just run several tests to narrow down the problem. Initially, I disabled the GPU and tried booting with integrated graphics, but the VGA BOOT error kept appearing. When I removed one RAM stick and swapped it, the issue stayed the same. After reinstalling the GPU and using only one RAM stick in slot A2, the VGA error persisted. Now I’m looking for further guidance to pinpoint the root cause. Thank you for your assistance.

Which CPU do you own? Also, consider flipping the RAM DIMMs to check for differences. Please confirm if your system includes an integrated graphics unit.

The problem seems to lie with either the CPU or the motherboard. You should check both. Have you tried resetting the CMOS? It might assist.
