I can start in safe mode, view Task Manager, and everything seems to work, except the screen is blank except for the cursor. I've tried many things already, can you help? This issue started right after a Windows Update, and once the update ended it stopped functioning! Edit: The problem appears only when logging in.

End the explorer.exe task and launch it again. This issue appeared after about 10 minutes of inactivity, though it might persist even without further action. The permanent solution is unclear.

Remove the disc and allow it to fix or revert to a previous save point.

I didn't find any reference to NOT PERSONAL FILES in your message. It seems you're discussing possible solutions for fixing Windows issues. The disc should offer several repair options first, then restore from a backup you created. You can also use the image you made for restoring Windows. Check the Device Manager to see if anything is causing problems. Press alt and click delete to open Task Manager, which will show you various options. It would help to know if updates were applied or not and what might be causing your problem. Make sure your system is backed up. Restore points, the disc image, and other related files are typically important when setting up a new system. If your computer isn't built from scratch, use the included software or the company's tools disc. Good luck!

Sure, let's break this down clearly.

Restoration or repair doesn't affect personal files or any other data. That's just one of the many concerns people have about the process.

I've handled this several times before. The last one was trying to avoid reinstalling Windows after changing the motherboard.

Also, could you highlight what you're focusing on regarding your OPs issue?
