schannel 36884
schannel 36884
I recently installed a new system but face problems while gaming. The game runs fine then the screen freezes, audio remains audible, and I have to use alt tab to exit. In the event viewer, the recurring error is shown as schannel 36884. I've looked into it but struggle to understand and can't resolve it. Any advice would be very helpful.
You might attempt the suggested fix involving registry edits, but ensure you follow the instructions in the blue box to create a backup first.
i'm still trying to figure out your question. maybe the sig was correct. if you press alt tab, does the pc still function or do you have to restart to see a picture? b650-e is available... x650 was a new model for me. do you connect via wifi or ethernet? neither driver listed here seems very recent.
I understand, but I haven't updated my profile yet. The PC is still functioning at half capacity, sometimes I can exit the game using Alt+Tab, other times I need to restart. I use Wi-Fi without any other problems with the system. Interestingly, I don’t have issues with Apex Legends, but I’m experiencing freezing in Callista Protocol and CoD Modern Warfare every ten minutes or so—the game just freezes. I’ll try the method I read about before deciding to give it a shot.
I don't like problems that only happen sometimes.
could be background processes
Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right -
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help...in-windows
It doesn’t delete anything, it just stops non Microsoft programs running with start. Easy to reverse.
if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.
I wonder if its an Asus program
I haven't tried the clean boot method yet (lacked enough time), but every game I play now is crashing. I've checked my system for malware, run a system file checker scan, scanned the registry, and even performed a 'reset this pc' and a fresh Windows 11 install.
what is the current ram speed?
if it survives a reinstall, it's unlikely to be a driver unless the motherboard has installed something—latest Asus boards automatically install Armory Crate software on the first restart after an install. It can be disabled in the bios.
i don't think it's software. but i'm not sure. i'm wondering where to begin.
the psu isn't obvious as a starting point; seasonic makes it difficult since they rarely blame anything.
it doesn't seem to be ram because you're not getting a bsod or freeze. just crashes.
it doesn't sound like the gpu, because it works when you press alt tab—that's not typical gpu driver errors, where everything or nothing happens.
there aren't any real tests for a motherboard.
the only real test for an amd cpu is prime95. it could be a rounding error, maybe... it would take a day to confirm without running the test.
curious...
look for the system info app
when it opens, click the plus next to Software Environment in the left column
then click on Windows Error Reporting
with a new install and a new pc, it should take a long time to fill in
now the dates might not make sense since they're alphanumerical
there are two types of errors that can appear here:
application
windows error reporting
just curious if you're getting any pre-radar crashes. they happen when windows thinks a program is using too much memory and closes it as a precaution.
I was testing my RAM with the EXPO setting at 6000Hz and applied a negative offset using curve optimizer. After updating BIOS and loading optimized settings, I'm wondering if these changes are causing the problems. I plan to try a game soon to check. I followed the system info instructions, but honestly, I'm not sure what I'm looking at.
