I own a brand new system with these details: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor, Kingston FURY Beast DDR4-3200 RAM, C16 32GB ARGB motherboard, DeepCool LE520 AIO cooler, Crucial P3 SSD, XFX Radeon RX 6950 XT graphics card, MSI MAG A750 PCIe 3.0 SSD, Phanteks Eclipse G300 power supply, and Windows 11 Pro. My internet connection is fiber with 750 Mbps download and 500 Mbps upload speeds. I’ve attached a screenshot of a diskmark and the download log showing random drops. I’m tech-savvy but haven’t seen anything like this before—please let me know if you need more info.
It's typical for a P3 to experience slower speeds after its cache reaches capacity. You mentioned writing 76GB, which suggests it's nearly full.
I understand, but what exactly is cache? I wasn’t sure SSDs have one either. Maybe I should consider getting a faster SSD instead.
I was considering that the P3 cache might be unused space, but I'm not sure.
It's a fixed size set by the maker, around 130GB for an empty 2TB P3 Plus. It tends to shrink as it fills up more. Once the cache reaches capacity, performance drops significantly.
I picked up a bit of new info, but honestly, would it really slow down my whole computer for a few seconds? That’s pretty strange.
No update is available for the SSD. Hard Disk Sentinel indicates the drive is in good health.
