Samsung T7 portable SSD might be damaged and unusable.
Hey there, I recently purchased a 2TB Samsung T7 portable SSD from Amazon in Canada. It came with the standard software for Windows and Mac, but I wasn’t storing much valuable data. After some digging, I installed it using the default setup. I was intrigued, so I opened it up, but it crashed my Windows Explorer, forcing a restart through Task Manager. Then I unplugged and plugged it back in, deciding to format it since the files weren’t important and I didn’t want my system to freeze. It appears as a raw partition in Disk Management, and after trying to format again via the command prompt, it kept refusing to complete, showing an error message that’s hard to remember exactly. Samsung Magician software froze on the splash screen when the SSD was connected and ran at full speed while I checked Task Manager. I’m willing to return the item, but I wanted help instead of sending it back. Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated!
Hi there. Apologies for the delayed response. I attempted this on a friend's laptop, and the same issue occurred. When using the standard format (not quick format), it results in an error.
When Amazon doesn't accept returns, contact Samsung's official support for return processing.
