your samsung odyssey g3 monitor struggles to reach 144hz and displays odd horizontal lines at startup that disappear after some time. windows supports 144hz mode, but when you connect it via display port, the screen goes black and only a few rows appear at the top. anyone have solutions or should I consider replacing it? i've attached a picture of what you're seeing. thanks!
the panel is starting to separate, allowing the light from behind to show through on top. this issue seems fixed once you see the actual panel—it’s likely just faded because of age. over time, the adhesive hardens and loses its hold. if it disappears after a short period, it probably expands slightly and seals the small gap that originally let light through.
G3 is not new.. i have a G7 bought two years ago. now G9 is out i think. over time electronic components fails.. if it's past warranty i would replace it. failure can also be a bad contact on the system board inside.. called cold solder point.. a badly connected solder point that looses connection over time, but hard to say as i have not troubleshot that device. or a bad chip that fails when it swaps to 144hz. or both.. have you tried upgrading firmware? i had to upgrade mine after a windows update.. as i saw the left half on the screen in the center of the monitor at 240hz HDR.. anything else worked normal.
I experienced the same issue. The computer suddenly stopped working and the screen went black. It only functions at 60hz or lower. Only a few active pixels appear at the top, similar to the original image. Even at 60hz, faint horizontal lines move up and down the screen. From what I learned online, it seems like a failure in the T-Con section of the board. I’m unsure what that means, but I’m certain this device won’t be compatible with Samsung anymore. After using it for less than two years with light use, it’s likely to end up in a landfill. Updated – I disassembled the unit and found used parts on eBay, new ones on AliExpress, which I suspect are imitations. I’m not sure if they’ll work, but I might try. I attempted to install a brand new board from AliExpress. It functions just like the OEM version, but the issue continues. It doesn’t work at any setting above 60hz, and even at 60hz or lower, horizontal ghost lines appear moving up and down the screen. I’m not getting another smooth monitor again.
