Hello, hoping someone can help with troubleshooting tips for a problem I’m experiencing with my system. I own a Samsung G9 OLED (FreeSync model) that occasionally shows black screens, especially during gaming. The issue seems to be driver-related, though I’m not entirely sure. It mostly happens when the application is running, and I often need to perform a hard reset using the power button, check Device Manager, temporarily disable or enable the graphics card drivers, and sometimes it works. I’ve noticed others on forums with similar issues, but no one has found a complete fix so far.

System details: Ryzen AM5 7950x, MSI X670E Carbon Wi-Fi, 64GB DDR5 RAM, 6000Mhz, PowerColor 7900XTX, Red Devil Limited, 49" OLED (G95SC).

I’ve attempted several fixes:
- Used DDU Update drivers and the Driver Reload tool with Win-CTRL-B to disable the generic Windows driver.
- Performed a full OS reinstall, which helped temporarily but only for a short time.
- Now I’m uninstalling the graphics card drivers to reinstall via AMD Software, but a warning pops up saying my current AMD software version conflicts with the driver I’m trying to install.

This makes things more complicated because the driver I’m using is the same one that was previously working. I’m trying to rule out a graphics card or motherboard problem before considering an RMA.

Please let me know if this points to a hardware issue or just a driver conflict. Thanks!

Considered the signal quality might be too poor. Have you experimented with another cable or reduced the monitor's refresh rate, if applicable?

It's working with the DP cable from Samsung, which has been stable without problems. When connected to the on-board graphics, the signal appears intermittently at 3840x1080/60Hz, but usually it's 5120x1440/240Hz.

I faced several problems with the included cables before settling on a higher-quality option. I had to test many different cables until I found one that performed well. The process became more challenging when trying to locate a suitable cable, especially for longer runs—DP cables often have more issues beyond 2 meters, so a good cable is essential for longer distances. Also, take a look at this... if you're interested. It's a bit lengthy but provides valuable insights into cable problems.

It's understandable to face similar problems with cables. I'll definitely revisit the video for a quick review. It's always better to stay vigilant.

I recently attempted to close the MSI Center app in the background, but it didn’t work after several hours. At first, I thought the motherboard temperature display was still active, but the AIO screen stopped, leading me to suspect a display-related problem. Time will clarify this, but right now I’m just relying on confirmation bias until it happens again. lol

I'm not familiar with MSI Center. It seemed like a major problem about three years ago—it was completely useless, so I don't know its current condition or how it connects to your display loss issue. When I faced a cable problem, I adjusted the display settings and it worked. Higher frequencies caused issues too. One of the replacement cables I used didn't handle 60Hz at all. I think it's better to test simpler options first before assuming a driver or GPU fault.

I checked the Event Viewer and saw many MSI Center crashes that seemed linked to driver problems, but when reviewing them in order, it looked like they happened differently. This was a limited number of tests so far, but after installing the driver and setting up the monitor with background tasks running, I haven’t encountered any issues yet. I don’t know why this was happening before, but everything seems fine now. If you have an AIO, I’d consider it a possible troubleshooting step. Update: I’ll also look into your display settings to make sure "Auto HDR" isn’t enabled.

You're experiencing the same recurring black screen issue, which appears to be a monitor-related problem. This isn't caused by cables or sources; the OLED TVs you mentioned also have similar issues, with the S95C being the primary example. The recommended solution involves using a new box that contains the main board. It's possible the G9 shares the same problem.
