Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB NVMe offers slow random access performance.
Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Samsung 990 Pro NVMe and tested it using CrystalDiskMark. My random numbers seem significantly different compared to other users' results. My setup includes a Ryzen 3700X CPU, an Asus X570 motherboard, 32GB G.Skill RAM, an EVGA RTX 3080 Ti GPU, and a Windows 10 OS. The drive is in the first slot, while my other system has a 970 Evo that also performs poorly. I’ve updated the firmware, but I’m still unsure what’s causing these discrepancies. Thanks ahead!
Verify temperatures as well, ensure the device isn't overheating.
Uses up to 35% during random writes. Read temperatures range from 45°C to 50°C. No overheating detected. Edit: Updated BIOS, no modifications needed. I cloned a 970 EVO using Samsung Magician. Drive offsets are as follows.
I’m not sure what to do either. Upgrading to W11 might help, as it’s related to BIOS settings that could be misconfigured. I remember having the same issue with the 970 EVO years ago, and after a Windows crash, a clean install seemed to improve things. It’s possible it’s the same problem. Could you share more details?
I'm experiencing frustration with the testing process. Could you clarify what's causing the issues?
The RND4K Q32T6 performance isn't what I expected. I'm seeing around 1700 MB/S for reads and 1500 for writes. The reported values from Kitguru don't match what I'm getting, and I'm not sure what else to try.
I reviewed the initial random number at the bottom and made changes.
