I recently installed a brand-new computer. Before that, I used a Samsung 970 Evo as my Windows OS boot drive on an older machine, and it functioned perfectly. This is the sole storage device I currently have, and I didn’t connect any others during the Windows installation. Now my new computer isn’t recognizing the SSD. I’m not sure what to do next.

Ensure you save your information before changing systems. Your issue might stem from differences between legacy and UEFI BIOS, or settings like CSM. Also consider TPM, secure boot, or encryption issues.

I've explored these settings in BIOS Advanced—PCH Storage Configuration—AHCI Advanced, Onboard Devices Configuration, PCIe Express Slot, and M.2 Bandwidth. Options include M.2 Mode Boot with Fast Boot enabled, Disabled Boot, CSM Launch, CSM Boot Control, UEFI and Legacy Boot, Legacy Oprom First Boot, Legacy Oprom First Boot with Secure Boot, and other OS Hard Drive BBS. The first three have worked. I plan to connect my old PC, back up data, and attempt a fresh Windows install. Will it reactivate or require an activation key? It already has Windows installed.

It could be, but it's more probable with a Microsoft account. Keep your product key handy just in case.

No, I haven't explored any other slots on the motherboard.

To verify if the slot is available, ensuring the board supports multiple slots and matches your drive type.

I might choose another position on the board if available.

The ports function operates correctly. Activating CSM makes the drive appear bootable, yet it results in a black screen with a white line flashing in the top-left corner. It seems online sources suggest CSM should remain off.

When csm is turned off, the SSD appears in the list of connected devices.
