Hi, your current setup is solid with 16GB and 3600MHz RAM. Adding more memory can boost performance, but using two 16GB sticks at 3600MHz CL18 might be challenging. A dual 32GB configuration could work if the motherboard supports it, though compatibility depends on your specific system. Check your motherboard’s specifications to confirm support before proceeding.

On Intel platforms you can achieve this. I haven’t located any guides explaining Ryzen’s approach, though Asus recommends aligning channel widths to keep dual-channel operation. I can note that using four sticks increases memory controller demand—especially with dual-rank configurations like 2x32GB—making it improbable to run the main XMP profile on a Zen 2 CPU. For gamers, my advice is to opt for the 2x16GB setup, test with 2x8GB, and discard the remaining sticks if issues arise. A 64GB or 80GB capacity is excessive unless you’re targeting memory-intensive games like Skylines.

You're evaluating whether a 5700X or 5800X would perform better for your needs.

Yes, you're likely to have a higher success rate, though the main XMP profile probably won't function well, particularly on 64 or 80GB drives.
