There are two options for safe temperatures, though I know the maximum limits change depending on the CPU. One is usually around 90°C and the other about 75°C. The 75°C version is older. The idea behind the 75°C claim is that even at 90°C the chip can last many years. The 75°C figure suggests it can go on forever. I kept my 4770K under 75°C and it’s still working well, which means there might be a case for going beyond it.
