This seems to be a motherboard problem rather than a CPU issue. The seller mentioned configuration doesn't work with TPM enabled, which points to the board's settings affecting functionality.

Uncertain about this, but ignore it if you're using Windows 11. Windows 10 works just fine without TPM. I'd avoid any refurbished parts with reported issues.

I aim to remove the motherboard from him. What I learned suggests fpm is located on the actual CPU, which means the motherboard should likely be okay.

If the seller already says it won’t work, skip it. No matter if you need that particular function or not. If one part fails, others are likely to too, and W10 won’t get support in October 2025. I’m not a TPM specialist, but it seems to be both MB and CPU-related, offering some security advantage. At least Microsoft appears to agree with that.

The TPM chip resides on the motherboard yet communicates with the CPU together. Check other components for details.
