Recently I've experienced some stability problems. It's unclear if it's due to the newest Nvidia driver or another factor with the system. On Saturday evening, after feeling overwhelmed by exhaustion, I returned from work and noticed all my screens were dark, yet they still received signals from the GPU. The keyboard backlight was off, and both NumLock and CapsLock would toggle on and off. When I moved the mouse pointer, I confirmed I was using Windows 10 Enterprise. A busy cursor appeared, and pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete didn't unlock the lock screen. I had to power down the machine manually. After rebooting, the same issues persisted. I accessed the bootloader (Manjaro dual boot) and encountered identical problems. I performed three failed startup attempts, entered recovery mode, and installed a driver from the executable in Safe Mode. Once back in normal mode, the display appeared correctly. The next day, power was lost again. When I tried to turn it on, the UPS cut power without supplying battery. Upon trying to boot into Windows, I encountered the same black screen issues. I followed the troubleshooting steps: forced a safe mode start, got a display, and restarted the PC. Temperatures and voltages in BIOS were normal. I then began a clean driver install (572.83) from the executable in Safe Mode. After that, I left the driver uninstalled, restarted DDU when back in Windows, and reinstalled it. When the driver loaded, my displays flickered but then displayed another black screen. This time, I managed to reach a lock screen and logged out successfully. Eventually, I reconnected and everything returned to normal, though my display order remained misaligned left-to-right. I opened Display Properties to correct the arrangement, but it still wasn't right. In Nvidia Control Panel, I attempted to reorder the monitors, which finally worked. Explorer frequently froze. When I booted up, clicking anywhere on my desktop triggered a busy cursor and caused Explorer to restart itself. I have three physical drives and two networked volumes for work. File Explorer windows often failed to load and would hang. It also froze during safe mode with networking. Anyone else facing similar challenges? Is the driver 572.83 truly faulty?

Wow, how long has this UPS been around? I remember a similar issue and it turned out the unit required fresh batteries. Yep! Your setup is pretty much like mine from last year. Nice machine!

I think I upgraded around three years ago when I bought the 3080. The box is still here, but I’m not home right now to verify the production date.

Update brief: Taking the DDU path has kept things running smoothly, but I rarely turn off my machine. There might be problems during Windows updates or power outages. The nearby grid isn’t very reliable. I’m hoping future Nvidia drivers won’t need DDU to make it work.
