s about Zen3 PBO
Hello everyone! I've noticed many discussions on this forum about PBO settings with the latest Zen3 CPUs. Several users with 5900X models report achieving 5.0GHz when PBO is enabled, which boosts their single-core frequency beyond stock. On the other hand, when I apply PBO to my 5600X, all cores drop to around 4.65GHz compared to about 4.2GHz under full load, yet the maximum single-core boost stays at 4.65GHz. Is this typical behavior? In short, PBO seems to mainly influence multi-core performance while keeping single-core speeds at stock levels. I’m not affected by temperatures and my motherboard is a high-end B550-E, so it shouldn’t be a constraint. These claims about single-core gains with PBO might not be accurate—maybe they’re exaggerating or misunderstanding how the technology works.
This statement suggests that most people who say they've improved single-core performance due to PBO are either being dishonest or using another method to overclock.
