You can return to Windows 8.1 if you don’t like Windows 10. The search bar works with Bing. Upgrading to Windows 10 is not required for DirectX 12. Let me know if you need more details!

you have options if you don’t like any operating system—switch to another one, even Linux. just turn off the search bar in services or other unwanted features on Windows; you’ll need Windows 10 for that, but it’s still problematic.

It seems there might be confusion about a Chrome extension for searching with Google. No reliable information confirms such an addon exists, and it's possible it's not functional or widely recognized. Let me know if you'd like help verifying details!

You can revert to Windows 8.1 by following the steps in settings, updating security, then using the recovery option. Regrettably, the DX12 API will remain limited to Windows 10.

Windows 10 remains quite suspicious; I’d hold off for several months if I were you.
