I've applied a Windows update (currently using Win 7) and it hasn't downloaded or installed properly despite several restarts. Will this stop me from getting Windows 10 later? #2 Do I need to re-download or back up anything before the update? #3 With Home Premium, can I pause updates using standard methods? #4 Will Direct X12 impact my current games (FFXIV, WoW, CS:GO, LoL, Dota2, HoTS)? #5 Hope you have a great day and appreciate your time and help! Edit: #6 It's also worth noting that I have seven other updates pending, similar to the previous one.

Keep two copies of your data whenever needed. Apply three updates in a slow queue; delays may occur if you skip them. Using AMD drivers speeds up performance on 10, but they only help with new or patched games on 12. It might work, but you should test it first.

Just for clarity on point two, we shouldn't panic during installation.

It seems to be a list of statements about Windows 10 updates. The key points are:
1. Likely no issues expected.
2. All settings, files, and programs should remain intact (link provided).
3. Unlikely to be a problem.
4. Some uncertainty about the situation.
5. Appreciation for the response.
6. Same as the first point.

Your window update won't stop you from upgrading with an ISO file.
