I think that's true, though the new CPU and RAM will be roughly the same price as a fresh CPU and motherboard.

It would work, though I wouldn't recommend using a 3600 with that B350 board. Right now I only have four CPU power phases, out of eight total, and both have heatsinks. This board offers seven phases, but only four include heatsinks.

I suggest the 10400f. Although the restricted RAM rate on the h470 could limit its performance compared to the 10400f, it would still handle gaming tasks quite well. In actual use, other scenarios differ significantly, but that's not the main point. How much are you spending on the 10400f? It’s not 400nzd, is it...? If it’s even reasonable for NZ, that’s a pretty low price.

It's around 205, and you're probably the only one suggesting a 9400f priced $25 higher than a 10400f.

It doesn't make sense to suggest this product since its performance is subpar, it misses hyperthreading capabilities, and it's released on a stagnant platform.

Oh, I see what you mean. It was late at night. You were thinking the 10400F is $25 more than the 9400F, and that makes it definitely worth the extra amount.
