I'm experiencing problems capturing low-quality videos with OBS. I've verified my settings and confirmed the video appears identical on YouTube, indicating an upload issue rather than a recording problem.

I've already attempted that, but the results weren't very effective. I also tried 15000, which didn't make a noticeable difference. According to YouTube, the maximum encoding bitrate for 720p is 15k.

Try CBR instead of VBR. For the R9 series, consider using OBS with VCE support.

I'll attempt to use VCE. Where can I locate CBR and VBR? How do I operate the installed version?

In the encoding settings, select CBR. For VCE, simply check VCE on the same page instead of x264. Avoid auto-updating the program to preserve VCE functionality.

It depends on what you mean by "same drive." If the partitions are on different volumes, recording to another partition won't affect the original. But if they're on the same drive, you might need to back up data before proceeding.

This shouldn't impact the recording quality.

It doesn't matter much. Only the drive speed impacts performance. If you're already using a 7200rpm drive, that shouldn't be the problem—unless it's almost full. Generally, just check the CBR. I'm not sure why 'yall but 3300-3500 bitrate is more than enough for 1080p recording.' Consider switching to MP4 instead of FLV, as YouTube will handle the conversion. Buffer size should match the bitrate.
