s about my setup
Before I begin, I want to mention that this setup is several years old—constructed in early 2015. Here are the details of my components.
My motherboard: Gigabyte 970a-ud3p
RAM: 8gb Gskill Sniper series
Processor: AMD FX-6300
Graphics: GTX 960 G1 Gaming
CPU is installed at 4.4ghz on a Cooler Master Hyper T4, which stays cool. The GPU runs at 1575mhz with a moderate fan curve and rarely exceeds 45c.
While watching everything in MSI afterburner during the Heaven benchmark, I’ve noticed some CPU cores fluctuating and occasionally hitting 100% for a brief moment. Am I running into a bottleneck?
Another concern is that after installing my CPU, I’m experiencing a double boot. I’ve heard this can happen on Gigabyte boards, but I haven’t found a fix. Anyone know how to resolve this without a full system reinstall?
I’m considering upgrading to a Ryzen system eventually, but right now I’m limited. I just want to maximize performance from what I have while it still works well. It’s been a solid machine since the build, but I’m sure it’s starting to feel outdated.
It's quite typical for your CPU to reach 100% during a stress test, regardless of the component being tested. Regarding the double boot, you can find more details on the power supply here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_boot
