I’m considering ESO because I’ve been really into Elder Scrolls recently. How does the crown system function? I know it’s paid in-game currency, but what exactly do you get with it? Are they just game items or also DLC? I’m not looking to buy them, just want a sense of whether it’s free-to-play or pay-to-win. Also, how much DLC is available and is it really necessary to play the game? Lastly, can I create a class like I do in Skyrim—light armor, dagger, shield, etc.?

From my experience in the Beta and what others have shared, the new game mechanics aren't very strong, even without the subscription.

Was this really included in the person's question? While I somewhat agree, it’s not worth it with sub. It would be fine without one, particularly given the time they’ve spent fixing it.
