It's because of the IRS, they want to keep an eye on those transactions. After crossing the limit, you have to make a formal statement so the IRS knows who's making those transactions. Luckily, it's only a question of the US. So if you're not an US citizen nor live in the US, you just say so in the statement and that's all. Then you can trade even thousands items per day There is one more limit tho. The current total number of your Steam Wallet balance plus all your market listening cannot exceed €380 or $500.
