I'm weighing my options and wondering if you can help me decide. Here are my thoughts:
1. Pairing it with an AMD 6800 GPU sounds like a solid matchup.
2. I've heard about people adjusting the CPU voltage, but I'm not sure if it's necessary or how straightforward it is.

Yes, confirm bios are updated for an older AM4 board running at stock settings. Ensure you have a good cooler in place.

Also depends on whether you already have the motherboard and RAM. If not, consider AM5 with 7800X3D if budget allows.

Thanks for your response. I need to update the BIOS myself; I stopped it before Windows 11's setup. I don't want my PC constantly asking for Win 11 installation. I'm planning to pair the CPU with the Noctua U12A cooler. I have a mesh case with many fans inside, which should work well. Edit: I was thinking AM5 and 7800X3D, but I prefer staying within budget and using my current AM4 motherboard.

BIOS isn't related to Windows 11. You'll need to check your motherboard support site for details. Temperatures should stay similar, and using two fans is recommended: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-r...3d/25.html

Temperature reached 82 degrees under load, though it probably doesn’t represent typical conditions. I’m not accustomed to such extreme heat. Back then, hitting 90 was considered problematic. Now it feels more common, right?

I compared it with U12S instead of A, so I might see a bit lower temperatures. The 5800X3D handles various coolers well and will modify the boost as needed.

I believed the A model was superior to the S—it's more recent and seems to match the performance of the 14.

Getting back to you, I thought it might help if you try PBO enabled with advanced settings. Using Negative:30 (which is -30) should lower the load voltage. My system stays stable at 4450mhz versus 4250mhz across all cores at 1.137v under full load. This change reduced power use by 15W, bringing the max temperature down to around 80°C instead of 90°C in Cinebench R23 with NH-D15 and one fan.

I explored this underclocking topic and reviewed the video. The steps in the BIO seem different from using the PBO2 tuner app. With an ASUS TUF X570-PLUS GAMING motherboard, you won’t need to rely on the app for scheduling setup.
