I was purchasing components for my PC and picked up a G.Skill Trident Z Neo (16GB 3600MHz) RAM. I didn’t realize these were tuned for Ryzen, while I’m using an Intel 10700K. This causes them to operate below 3000MHz. Can I improve their speed to get closer to 3600, or is it really not possible?

10700k is fixed at 3000mhz to ensure optimal performance. This setting works well with Ryzen processors, but if Intel had offered faster speeds you'd have benefited, which they haven't.

They claim no RAM is optimized for specific CPUs—it's just marketing. You can purchase it and operate it at lower frequencies without issues.

Thanks, I didn't know the i7 had that limit. Runs perfectly fine, and I got a good price for them so no point making any changes then

No, the setup is determined by the chipset. I'm using a 10700k at 3200mhz on a Z490. You must turn on XMP on compatible boards, which technically pushes it above 2933mhz, but that doesn't limit the chip. What's your motherboard? It might be a faulty RAM batch, so I could suggest returning it. Did you actually try enabling XMP?

Only b460 motherboards can handle RAM up to 2933mhz, which is perfect.
