You could likely use those components in a Ryzen (Zen 2) with an X570 board. The setup would allow you to start with budget-friendly parts and upgrade memory later as needed. For four memory slots, an X570 with multiple slots would work well, giving you flexibility to expand capacity when you're ready.

RDIMM is compatible exclusively with Threadripper and EPYC systems. Ryzen processors require unregistered ECC RAM, provided the motherboard allows it. The two types operate via distinct communication methods.

It won't require regular mode for posting. It should work without extra settings. Removing b550 is suggested by some users for better performance. Adding more features might need a b board where an a board can't fit.

It seems the setup won't work as expected. If you're focusing on light gaming, recording, and editing for YouTube with some Python or Java work involved, a TR system might not be the best fit. Consider alternatives that suit your needs better.

Several B550 boards come with 2.5G LAN and Wi-Fi 6, whereas the X570 model is available only on certain $250 to $300 variants. It doesn’t always mean the X570 has more features than the B550. I don’t see any reason to assume ThreadRipper can run RDIMM either—it remains part of the Ryzen lineup. Purchasing a high-end non-REG 32GB memory kit and an AM4 build isn’t just about saving money; it goes against the goal of cost efficiency.
