For the love of god - i CANNOT find any answer on the internet. Even after contacting AMD support, they cannot provide me an answer. I am building a new Video edit PC since my old Intel 6700k + 3080ti + 32gb ddr4 dual channel - doesnt fullfill my expections anymore on reliability and fast edit/playback in Davinci Resolve 18. As i want to start shooting in C-LOG3 4:2:2 - 10 bit on my Canon camera - for a higher dynamic range better colorgrading. Intel 11 - 12 -13 and 14 series supports the codecs of having - not a choppy playback - But i cannot find anywhere on the internet if The newer AMD Ryzen processors supports the same codecs. For some reason my 3080ti doesn't want to use its power to help me edit 4:2:2 10 bit videos.

Intel leads slightly over AMD in Davinci, yet for other areas and when considering power use and device lifespan I recommend AMD.

It's noteworthy that much remains unclear about this topic, especially given the growing number of filmmakers adopting 4:2:2 - 10bit formats. I received a response from AMD support, providing clarity on the matter: the current processors don't support H265 10-bit at 4:2:2, only up to 4:2:0. The only devices capable of handling 4:2:2 at this stage are certain Intel Quick Sync chips and Intel Arc graphics cards. While we wish we could have offered a solution, our GPUs would rely on software decoding, which is less efficient. If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out to us. Intel should lead, AMD must focus on basic features, and/or try to align with rivals' requirements.
