For monitoring, I prefer Ryzen Master instead of BIOS updates, as it avoids needing a restart. Regarding core counting, one tool starts at 0 while another begins at 1—so if Thread 3 encounters an issue in Ryzen Master, it will show either Core 1 or Core 2 depending on the source.
