Ryzen 9 9950X3D running idle around 65°C on NH-D15 G2 motherboard
Hey there, I’m seeing idle temperatures hovering near 65 °C on my Ryzen 9 9950X3D with the Noctua NH-D15 G2. It’s a bit higher than expected, especially since the cooler is cool and the ambient is moderate. I’ve heard AM5 processors can get warm, but this feels a bit off. The stock BIOS is using default settings, and I’m using the NT-H2 paste. Should I consider adjusting voltages, enabling Eco mode, or maybe remounting the cooler? It would be interesting to see what other users with this setup are experiencing at idle.
It appears the system is running background processes during idle time, possibly for indexing or maintenance. Understanding its activity helps assess whether it's using resources efficiently. The high 65°C reading suggests excessive heat despite cooling efforts, indicating potential inefficiency. This could point to a need to investigate what tasks are being performed and optimize their performance.
