Hello, I just assembled my first PC and am keeping track of the temperatures to see if everything is within normal ranges. The configuration includes a Ryzen 9 7900X with the Kraken Elite z73 360mm AIO fan set for exhaust, a 64GB NVMe SSD with G Skill 64GB CL30 5800MHz, an ASUS B650E-F gaming laptop with Wi-Fi and XFX graphics, a 1000W power supply from MSI A1000, and a trio of Noctua fans (120mm intake, Redux 120mm exhaust). I’m using a CPU cooler and monitoring temperatures while running Minecraft, RUST, and TF2. The GPU stays around 48°C, and the CPU reaches 91°C under full load. The Cinebench R23 results are mostly stock performance. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Normal performance for the AM5 7000 line. My 7700x matches that pattern. These chips are built to reach a maximum temperature of 95°C and hold steady there—something no other CPU is engineered for. Check out these three videos; the top two align with the temperatures seen in the 7000 series. The Jay'z video offers a fun demonstration and covers all the details you need to understand.

The temperatures are acceptable. AMD claims the CPU is designed for continuous operation at 95°C, which means 91°C during Cinebench and 70°C while gaming is acceptable.

These temperatures reflect what I anticipate. Cinebench should hover around 95°C, though lowering it to 91°C isn't out of the question. How's your result? Given how modern CPUs handle boost cycles, measuring thermal efficiency often focuses on actual performance instead of raw temps.

Consider the positive aspects, you'll cut down significantly on heating costs this winter...~ my 5800x3D runs around about 60 watts.

My previous 7900x system ran air cooled using an AK620 (previously Assassin IV). It typically stayed between 45-50°C idle and around 92°C load (Cinebench R23). In just 30 seconds you could achieve PBO with Curve Optimizer at -20 across all cores, dropping idle to about 42°C most of the time and load times from 87 to 88 under Cinebench—performance was better then. The peak came when I set a 85°C temperature cap. Unfortunately, I had to sell that chip; it was definitely more enjoyable to experiment with than the current 7800x3D. These parts are quite straightforward to manage, by my count. This is from a long time ago, well before RAM tuning became common. Just stock.

Received a high-core-count result of 28,890 with clock speeds holding steady at 5.1 GHz

I saw those videos, but I assumed strong cooling would keep it above 95. What if it drops to 91 within about 20 seconds in Cinebench?

Expected performance is perfect. These CPUs demand maximum cooling at 90-95 degrees. I own a 7700x and an NH-D15 running at 27% speed initially, keeping things quiet until reaching 90°C, then ramping up to full speed from 90-95°C to enable boost clocks while at peak temperatures. I rarely exceed 80°C during regular gaming, so the system stays silent unless I'm pushing heavily. It works excellently for me.

This result aligns with typical expectations. Generally, around 29,500 is considered ideal, but minor variations of about 600 points in Cinebench are normal, and background Chrome usage can further affect performance.
