Higher-end B450 boards such as Tomahawk Max or Mortar Max work well. With a downcraft cooler and a well-ventilated case, the B450 Pro 4 should suffice for stock clocks.

The board should work well with a stable Beta Bios for Zen3 and solid VRM performance. For AM4 boards, look at options like the Asus B450 TUF Pro S (mATX) or the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max.

I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 with a B450 Pro Max M.2 by MSI and was considering switching to a Ryzen 9 5900X. I'm unsure if I need to replace the motherboard as well.
