Hey everyone, I've been using a Ryzen 9 5900X since September 2020. I'm running into some temperature problems—when idle it's around 45-50°C, but during games it spikes to 80-85°C. My specs look good: CPU, RTX 3080, NZXT Kraken X73, 3x120mm RAM, G.SKILL 32GB CL16, and a Gigabyte B550. The case has a NZXT H710i and a Corsair RM 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU. The fans are on the front of the case, but it doesn't fit properly. I'm not sure what's causing this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
The readings align with typical expectations, but adjusting your PBO offset to roughly -15 to -25 can reduce temperatures by as much as 10°C. Make sure to verify the limits before going too low to avoid stability or performance issues.
These temperatures seem normal given what you're describing. The NZXT cases could appear fine, but they don't provide adequate airflow.
@FliP0x and @Stahlmann appreciated your help. I discovered the main problem was a beginner mistake—I installed the fans in the wrong orientation. They pulled warm air from inside the PC and used it to cool the CPU. After flipping them, my temperatures stayed below 75°C during games and the system ran much quieter.
