Ryzen 9 3900x at 3.8ghz performance
Hello, I'm new to adjusting clock speeds and voltages. In Ryzen Master I changed the core voltage, which now locks at 3.8 GHz. It's running cooler than before, but it throttled during Cinebench. I prefer lower temperatures, but I'm curious about the impact on gaming performance and other tasks. Thanks for the screenshots.
Only the minus sign on voltage was changed. Will a 3.8GHz decrease performance?
Well, maybe you should focus on your regular tasks unless you're constantly running Cinebench. In typical workloads, you shouldn't experience such high CPU usage. Gaming won't stress the CPU that much. If you're seeing throttling during a game, that's another issue altogether. I remember my 3900x was running pretty hot—had to reapply waterblock and thermal paste multiple times for a stable setup. If you're thinking about undervolting, you might want to try a negative voltage offset instead. I’m not sure how to adjust that in Ryzen Master, but it’s likely there is an option in the BIOS for doing so.
while playing games it often reaches a maximum of 80-85°C, typically.
This meets AMD's requirements, so you don't need to be overly concerned. It looks like you haven't shared any information about the cooling solution you're using. If you're employing a custom water loop, make sure your mount is solid. With the standard cooler, those temperatures are comfortably within the acceptable range.
What cooling solution are you employing? The temperature is acceptable overall, but it becomes extremely high during gaming tasks. It seems the cooler might be insufficient or there could be an installation issue.
Check out this cooler master model with liquid cooling, 120 CFM airflow, and a compact design. It's available in sizes D12 and A20 with various color options.
