Upgrading and constructing a new setup is underway, exploring different operating systems. The upcoming rig will feature R7-1800x with a Vega-based card (when available). Right now, I have a 64-bit copy of Windows 7 Pro. My intended use includes graphic design, photography, gaming, VR, and maybe video editing. It’s a mix of work and play—my main concern is whether one OS provides significant benefits over the other based on this build and purpose. Thanks everyone! Note: I should note that I’ve mostly used a Mac for about five years and switched back to PC for practical reasons, so I might be a bit out of touch.

The idea that Windows 7 can run on Ryzen processors isn't true—it's been debunked, at least according to recent sources.

Search results remain unclear, presenting mixed updates since the announcement. No driver information appears on the AMD site.

Based on my own trials, Windows 10 performs better for most tasks. I rely on Insider builds for speed, which might feel less stable compared to what you'd get. If you absolutely need Windows 7, dual booting or running it in a lightweight Linux environment is still an option.

Hey, keeping up with Windows 10 and what users think about it. Privacy concerns and stability in specific situations are on the mind. It seems Windows 7 has been around longer and fewer issues have popped up. I’d probably prefer to switch later instead of now, since 10 feels more polished.

Legally purchasing Windows 7 is only possible through VL anymore. Think about your search results on Reddit or product key sites when you shop.

Ryzen doesn't provide support for Windows 7. You're stuck with Windows 10, 8, or Linux. I'd prefer Linux since the other two are problematic and new issues keep appearing in Windows 10 with each update. Microsoft seems to be focusing more on selling products rather than serving customers.

The only ones with stability problems are those who avoid a proper clean install. A thorough reset will make it as reliable as Windows 7. These issues aren’t about privacy—they’re about being overly cautious about telemetry. Unfortunately, those who worry this way don’t grasp that the internet uses more data than many other services. Instead of being contradictory, they should either stop complaining and accept reality or disconnect their internet and phones.
